LOOK BENEATH THE SURFACE

If You Always Feel Bloated After Meals, Start Here

If you’ve been dealing with that uncomfortable puffy, bloated, sluggish feeling after eating, this is for you.

This is one of the very first things I walk my clients through inside my 1-1 coaching program because it’s simple, effective, and honestly so overlooked.

My number one go-to solution?

Slow down while you eat.

I know, it sounds almost too simple.

BUT

Digestion starts before food even hits your stomach.

The moment you see, smell, and begin chewing your food, your body starts what’s called the cephalic phase of digestion. This is when your brain signals the release of digestive enzymes, stomach acid, and saliva to help properly break down food.

When you rush through meals, barely chew, or eat in a stressed state, this process gets disrupted.

Your body shifts into more of a sympathetic “fight or flight” state, where stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline are elevated.

In that state, digestion is not the priority.

Blood flow is redirected away from the digestive tract and toward your muscles and brain because your body is focused on stress and survival, not breaking down your food efficiently.

This is one of the biggest reasons so many women feel bloated, heavy, or uncomfortable after meals.

SO,

Before you eat, take 3 to 5 slow deep breaths.

Let your shoulders drop.

Unclench your jaw.

Soften your belly.

This helps activate your parasympathetic nervous system, your body’s “rest and digest” mode.

When this system is turned on, your body increases saliva production, stomach acid, pancreatic enzymes, and healthy gut motility, which all help food move through your digestive system more effectively.

Even something as simple as chewing more thoroughly makes a huge difference.

Digestion literally begins in the mouth, where enzymes in saliva start breaking down carbohydrates and where proper chewing reduces the workload on your stomach and intestines.

The less work your gut has to do later, the less likely you are to experience bloating and discomfort.

Try this for the next 7 days and notice how you feel.

Keep it simple:

  • Take a few deep breaths before your first bite
  • Put your fork down between bites
  • Aim to chew each bite more thoroughly
  • Sit down and eat without rushing
  • Take a gentle 5 to 10 minute walk after meals

Most people are honestly surprised by how quickly their bloating starts to improve when they simply support their body’s natural digestive process.

Sometimes the most powerful solutions are not extreme supplements, detoxes, or cutting foods out.

Sometimes it’s simply teaching your body that it is safe enough to digest.
