Coach Jen
So often, we think success and happiness look like comfort. Comfort in a big bank account, access to food 24/7, luxury products, convenience at our fingertips, no discomfort.
Have we become so accustomed to the easy way, that we have forgotten what we are capable of. What if we didn’t stop when things got challenging and we doubted our capability but instead leaned into the discomfort and challenge.
To improve your life you have to go through discomfort, get comfortable with discomfort, perhaps even seek discomfort.
Working through adversity not only refines you but provides lessons for future challenges to pull upon. Unfortunately we so rarely put ourselves in uncomfortable situations that we truly don’t know how capable and strong we are.
There is a concept call a Masogi in which the goal is to put yourself in a challenging experience once a year.
The challenge must:
- Push you to your limit (only a 50/50 chance of success)
- Scare you a bit. Something that is outside your comfort zone
- Be centered on you and not comparison to any other challenge.
Are you pushing yourself? Do you resort back to old habits because they feel safe? What if you were to push beyond that discomfort? What if you were to find your limit? What if you were to embark on a Masogi?
