Reason 1: You’re Swole
Like, really. You’re a bit swollen from the micro trauma of working out, especially if you’ve just gotten started.
Hard runs and/or heavy lifting sessions in the gym put stress on your muscle fibers, causing micro traumas that lead to inflammation, a necessary part of the healing and repair process. You’re body responds by retaining fluid. It’s not permanent, but it can be persistent until you adjust to your new routine.
Reason 2:
You’re Finally Drinking Enough Water. Most people are dehydrated and not drinking enough. If you’ve been dehydrated your body will retain more water whenever it gets the chance in an attempt to keep you alive. Every system in your body depends on water in order to function. Even mild dehydration can drain your energy and make you feel tired. So, when you first drink enough your body will hold onto everything. When your body realizes it is getting enough water, it will allow you to release retained water from your cells through digestion.
Reason 3:
You’re Finally Eating Enough.
Most people are severely undereating or not eating the right amounts. Your bodies natural reaction from undereating will be to store it up at first in the event that your body goes through starvation again. Once your body actually TRUSTS you and is on a consistent routine of eating enough then it will respond accordingly
People tend to give up or throw in the towel right before breakthrough happens… all because of what the scale tells them. Don’t let the scale have that power over you.
Do you physically feel better, are your clothes fitting, do you have more energy?
It’s important to focus on the process and not the outcome. Stay consistent, while giving yourself grace, and the outcome will come!
